In 2021, the New Mexico Department of Health Medical Cannabis Program introduced an Online Patient Portal (The New Mexico Department of Health Medical Cannabis Program Online Portal).
The Online Patient Portal provides qualified patients and their designated caregivers with 24-hour access to check the status of their application, check their available units, review their sales history, and access their electronic card. In addition, when working with an authorized medical provider, they can complete and submit applications electronically.

MCP office. Incoming mail, general delivery or certified, is routed through the DOH mail room. Please allow 5 working days from the date mailed before checking on your application.
The Medical Cannabis Program may take up to 30 days from the date a complete application is received at the MCP office to approve or deny the application. An additional 5 business days are allowed to process and issue the registry identification cards. We recommend that applications be submitted 45 to 60 days before expiration to avoid problems obtaining or possessing medical cannabis.
Electronic Applications (processed within 5 business days of receipt)
When working with an authorized medical provider, you can complete and submit your applications electronically. Applications submitted through the Online Patient Portal are typically processed within 5 business days; you can access your electronic card upon approval (see instructions).
Paper Applications
NOTE: The program will no longer accept Paper Applications after April 1, 2023.
